Information on the impact of the activity of launching an x-ray laboratory and launching and using x-ray equipment on human health and the environment

Based on Article 32c, paragraph 2 of the Atomic Law (Journal of Laws of 2019, item 1792, as amended), I hereby inform you that the organizational unit known as Dorotowska Dental Clinic conducts activities related to exposure to ionizing radiation, which involves:

- The use of devices that produce ionizing radiation.

The unit has been granted permits for:

- The operation and use of X-ray machines.
- The establishment of an X-ray laboratory.

According to Article 17, paragraph 1 of the Atomic Law, in order to adjust the risk assessment to its expected level, the employees of the organizational unit have been classified into Category B exposure. The assessment of employee exposure is conducted based on systematic measurements of environmental doses, allowing for the verification of the correctness of the classification of employees into this category.

Over the past 12 months, no exceedances of the dose limits set for employees have been recorded. Dosimetric measurements of the distribution of the X-ray ionizing radiation dose rate in the laboratories have confirmed that the construction of walls, ceilings, windows, doors, and the installed protective devices in the laboratories adequately protect the workers, the surrounding population, and individuals in the vicinity of the X-ray laboratory located in a residential building from receiving doses specified in paragraphs 2 and 3, paragraph 1 of the Regulation of the Minister of Health of August 21, 2006 (Journal of Laws No. 180, item 1325) within a year.

The head of the organizational unit ensures that the activities related to exposure are carried out in accordance with the principle of optimization, which requires that—taking into account reasonable economic and social factors and the current state of technical knowledge—the number of exposed workers and members of the public, as well as the probability of their exposure, are minimized, and the doses of ionizing radiation they receive are kept as low as possible.

Based on the above information, it is concluded that the activities carried out in the past 12 months have had no negative impact on human health and the environment. Furthermore, no radioactive substances have been released into the environment as a result of the aforementioned activities.
