Bonding - correction of teeth with composite material

So-called bonding is a procedure that involves correcting the shape of teeth using a composite material with physical properties as close as possible to tooth tissue.
Bonding is particularly useful for minor aesthetic changes, as the material is applied "by hand," and therefore based on the doctor's visual and subjective assessment of the shape of the tooth being restored. In practice, bonding is used to repair minor imperfections, such as discoloration or chipping of incisal edges or facing surfaces of teeth, since the color of the composite material is similar to the color of natural bone.

It often happens that a small element in the smile is disturbed - chipped enamel, a gap between teeth, incisal angles that are too sharp, and others. In such cases, there is no need for the most aesthetic solution - ceramic veneers. An alternative that allows for excellent results is correcting the shape of teeth with composite material - so-called bonding. Thanks to the use of adhesive techniques, there is no need for excessive preparation of the restored tooth. The surface of the enamel is only etched with orthophosphoric acid, and then, using specially developed bonding systems, successive layers of composite are attached.

Thanks to the wide range of available materials, which vary in color and translucency, it is possible to achieve a natural-looking surface that deceptively resembles a natural tooth. In addition, thanks to appropriately selected mechanical parameters, these restorations are durable, easily withstanding the stresses to which they are exposed. An additional benefit is that such treatment is fully reversible. If the patient is not satisfied with the result, the dentist can easily improve selected elements of the restoration at a given visit, as well as later. It is therefore a very flexible solution, susceptible to further modifications.
